First skate board club in Gaza Strip

This is a bit weird to post these photos of "sweet gaza" the day when the Gaza Strip was once again the theatre of a targeted assassination via an Israeli strike. One Palestinian, an alleged militant, was killed and 3 others injured.
I just left Gaza two days ago. During my stay, times were supposedly "quiet"- which means that in a few days there were a Palestinian shot in the leg near Jabaliya, airstrikes in Rafah against military training camps; daily shootings at Palestinian fishermen at the sea..and not to mention the never-ending siege, electricity cuts, and a lack of cooking gas bottle.
Still Gaza retains some beauty, and Palestinians go on with their lives as best as they can. After I finished my assignment for an ngo, I stayed a few extra day to meet some friends. For the first time since November, I took the time just to wander around. One of the best place, one of the only open space is the beach. With the high temperature, on Friday afternoon it was quite packed with people- just enjoying the sea, and relaxing.
The next day I went to Khan Yunis to meet the first skate-board club in Gaza. With the help of an Italian activists, a group of youths built the ramp. They only have 6 second-hand skate-boards but their passion and thirst to develop themselves make up for their lack of experience. They are looking for more trainers to come. Right now; after the Italian left, they are left with looking at videos on youtube to try to learn the moves.
Mohammad, one of the most committed from the group; gave me the best quote of the day. I said that I was worried that they would have a heart attack because of the heat. He answered: "we dont have heart attack in Gaza! Only bomb attacks!"

Il peut paraître un peu bizarre de publier ces photos de "sweet Gaza" le jour où la bande de Gaza a de nouveau été le théâtre d'un assassinat ciblé par une attaque israélienne. Un Palestinien, un militant présumé, a été tué et trois autres blessés.
Je viens de quitter la bande de Gaza il y a seulement deux jours. Pendant mon séjour, la situation étaient soi-disant "calme" - ce qui signifie qu'en quelques jours, il y a eu un palestinien blessé par balles dans la jambe près de Jabaliya, des frappes aériennes à Rafah contre des camps d'entraînement militaires; des fusillades quotidiennes contre pêcheurs palestiniens à la mer .. sans même mentionner le siège interminable, les coupures d'électricité, et un manque de bouteilles de gaz.
Pourtant, malgré cette situation difficile,; Gaza conserve une certaine beauté, et les Palestiniens continuent leur vie du mieux qu'ils le peuvent. Après avoir fini ma mission pour une ONG, je suis restée quelques jours supplémentaires pour rencontrer des amis. Pour la première fois depuis Novembre, j'ai pris le temps juste de me promener. Le meilleur de Gaza est aussi l'un des seuls espaces ouverts: la plage. Avec la température élevée, le vendredi après-midi, le bord de mer assez bondé de Palestiniens, y compris des femmes, qui voulaiuent tout simplement profiter de la mer et se détendre.
Le lendemain, je suis allée à Khan Yunis pour réncontrer des membres du premier club skate-board dans la bande de Gaza. Avec l'aide d'un activites italiens, un groupe de jeunes a construit la rampe. Ils ont seulement 6 skate-board d'occasion mais leur passion et leur soif de se développer compensent leur manque d'expérience. Ils esperent que dee formateurs pourront venir à Gaza. À l'heure actuelle, ils doivent se contenter de regarder des vidéos sur youtube pour essayer d'apprendre les mouvements.
